About the event
National Prescription Drug Takeback Day is a twice-yearly event that offers a free, secure, and anonymous way for the public to dispose of unused or expired medications at numerous locations across the nation.
The purpose of this event is to prevent the misuse of prescription drugs and accidental overdoses by removing unneeded medications from homes. Additionally, it seeks to prevent environmental damage, such as the contamination of water systems from disposing of prescriptions down the toilet.
