Transportation

The Tanner Community Development Corporation (TCDC) Transportation Program is all about making sure seniors in the community can easily participate in and enjoy life's activities. Think of it as a dedicated service that removes transportation barriers, allowing older adults to stay active, connected, and engaged with their community.

What does this program do?

The TCDC Transportation Program offers a variety of transportation services specifically tailored to the needs of seniors. This means providing reliable and accessible rides to a wide range of destinations, such as:

  • Weekend Needs: Trips to the Farmers Market for fresh produce

  • Community Engagement: Visits to local events like the Afri-Soul Marketplace at the community center.

  • Social Participation: Access to weekend festivals and other community gatherings.

Why is this program important?

This program plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for seniors by:

  • Promoting Independence: It empowers seniors to maintain their independence by providing them with the means to travel where they need and want to go without relying solely on others.

  • Combating Social Isolation: By facilitating access to social events and community activities, the program helps reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation, which can significantly impact well-being.

  • Supporting Active Lifestyles: It enables seniors to stay physically and mentally active by making it easier to participate in hobbies, attend appointments, and connect with others.

  • Fostering Community Connection: The program strengthens the bond between seniors and their community by ensuring they can remain an integral part of local life.
